We continue to grow and are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to meet our growth opportunities.

The Design Engineer is responsible for managing a variety of tasks including Product design and development, customization of existing products. In addition, you will assist the Production team to develop assembly processes and troubleshoot any issues on the production floor.

Key Skills and experience:
- Previous experience in mechanical drafting, manufacturing or other related fields
- Software skills; SolidWorks CAD, AutoCAD, Microsoft
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Secondary Skills preferred:
- Manufacturing Process engineering (SOP’s)
- Quality Control, Continuous improvement, Lean Manf, 5S
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare Design documents - Solid models, manufacturing part prints and Assemblies in SolidWorks
- Bills of materials (BOM) created for new or customized products
- First Article Inspections (FAI) - Periodic quality audits of all parts and assemblies.
- Review and modify designs to reduce production deficiencies
- Manufacturing team support - Work closely with production supervisor to solve production issues caused by non-confirming materials.
- Manufacturing engineering - Assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for production floor for new products and custom jobs (pre-job brief).
- Product Testing / Compliance – assist in testing of products to meet specified criteria, ie. UL compliance

Since then it has become a leader in the consumer electronics furniture marketplace, offering advanced flexible solutions for audio and video enthusiasts.

We at Salamander are heavily process driven and strive for Continuous Improvement in everything that we do. Quality control is a key focus for our company and we measure our performance frequently.
MADE TO ORDER
Our facility is designed for materials and production to flow through an efficient process. Salamander manages using “Lean Manufacturing” principles and “pull manufacturing” techniques. This process allows us to Build-to-order thereby allowing us to carry virtually no finished goods stock. The concept is for the customer to “pull” the product through production with his order…they ask for it and we build it.
OUR FACILITY
Salamander is located in Bloomfield, Connecticut and occupies a modern 85,000 SF facility just north of Hartford and 2 hours from Boston and New York City.
